King Triton's Carousel

  1. King Triton's Carousel is one of a kind in the world. It is a standard merry-go-round system purchased from D.H. Morgan Manufacturing in La Selva Beach, south of San Francisco.
  2. Although an Imagineer designed each of the California sea animals replacing horses on the Carousel, the actual sea creatures that you ride on were made by Morgan.
  3. The animals are flying fish, sea horses, dolphins, sea lions, whales, sea otters and garibaldi.
  4. There are also 16 icons around the upper edges of the Carousel paying tribute to the old sea-side amusement parks: Abbot Kinney Pier, Venice (1905); Venice of America, Venice (1904); Fraser's "Million Dollar" Pier, Ocean Park (1912); Pickering Pleasure Pier, Ocean Park (1920); Lick Pier, Ocean Park (1923); Venice Pier, Venice (1925); Ocean Park Pier, Ocean Park (1929); Looff's Pier, Santa Monica (1908); Santa Monica Pier, Santa Monica (1909); Pacific Ocean Park, Santa Monica (1958); The Pike, Long Beach (1905); Nu Pike, Long Beach (1950); Virginia Park, Long Beach (1939); Belmont Park, San Diego (1925); Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, Santa Cruz (1907); Playland at The Beach, San Francisco (1928).
  5. Walt Disney World only has one Carousel among all its four parks.
