Triton Gardens

Phsst: Fun Facts
  1. While doing the "Walk in Walt's Footsteps Tour,"and going past the fountain, then the statue of Triton towards Central Plaza, there is a single, permanent rock in the landscaping which has a Mickey profile, possibly originally deliberate, as the ears are in proportionate size (although they have aged around the edges); the nose profile is still very clear. It can be some what shaded by the tree next to it at times, but because it is the only object for ten feet before entering the Plaza, I suspect it is more than just a coincidence. Because of it's placement (clearly in natural line of sight when walking that direction) if one just happens to stop, looking downwards, it may be a classic.

Triton's Fountain - While doing the "Walk in Walt's Footsteps" tour, I noticed a side view mickey on top of a rock nearest the Triton statue (under a tree). There is nothing else of importance in that last ten feet before the central square. Although somewhat aged by time, it appears to be an originally intentional hidden Mickey etched in the rock. Diana, the tour guide, had me take her back to it after the tour, and agreed it is the best sort of hidden mickey one finds - not obvious, unless one just happens upon it - and original to the park.

  2. While standing in line for Rocket Rods, in the outside part of the line, we had a clear view of the path leading to Ariel's Grotto (Triton's Gardens). On a half-circle-ish shaped rock, there are shells embedded into the rock, and they form a Hidden Mickey. They are at a slight angle, leaning a bit to the left, and are not connected, but there was a larger shell and two smaller ones that seems as good a Mickey as others we saw.

Fantasyland Theatre

  1. The new 2002 show, Mickey's Detective School, is now playing in the Fantasyland Theater at Disneyland. The backdrop is Mickey's office.. If you look on the left side in the green wall above the window you will find a side view of Mickey formed out of a crack in the wall. There are other similar Mickey shapes in cracks in the right wall, too.

There are some Hidden Mickeys on the set of Mickey's Detective School, the newest show at the Fantasyland Theater. They are painted to look like cracks in the middle wall (the part that pulls back to reveal the "Lie Detector") But they are very faint so be sure to sit as close as you can to the stage.
