Lost Hidden Mickeys of

Disney continually updates its parks and attractions. Due to anniversaries, Hidden Mickeys are lost forever. When you notice that a Hidden Mickey was lost, please report it so that it can be remembered here.

This page is dedicated to those Hidden Mickeys lost forever in the parks and the Imagineers who created them. They may be lost in reality but they will live on in cyberspace.

General

  1. When entering the property you are greeted by the huge 25th anniversary logo saying welcome... And at the characters, if you notice that there is no female character like Minne or TinkerBell like on t-shirts and mugs also Donald is repeated twice.

  2. At the very end of the Walt Disney World 25th Anniversary Vacation Planning Video, after the segment on Disney Cruise Lines, a moon is shown over the ocean. "Pixie dust" circles around the moon and traces a tri-Circle Mickey.

  4. While enjoying your vacation in the Walt Disney World parks, you may notice many Hidden Mickeys. However, some of the most noticeable Hidden Mickeys are hardly ever noticed. One such Hidden Mickey is the 25th anniversary logo. Cinderella's coach in the 25th anniversary logo is a stylized, upside-down Hidden Mickey. The carriage, including its wheels, make a Hidden Mickey. You can find the logo everywhere: on the 25th anniversary merchandise, such as cups, for sale in the shops, 25th anniversary advertisements, Walt Disney World's Web site, and even on the Cast Members' 25th Anniversary name tags. So, the next time you purchase that memorable souvenir at the parks...stop and take a good look.

This is one of the rare cases where the proportions are not correct, but the coach does form a "stylized" Mickey as noted in the original submission above. It looks like more people think it is one than not. Believe me, I'd be the first one to call "wishful thinking!"

Epcot

  1. IllumiNations has some changes for the 25th Anniversary. The name will now be called "IllumiNations 25." The show is divided into three acts and has a Hidden Mickey in it:
    1. Act 1 - honors the countries and the guests representing them.
    2. Act 2 - Future World and the promise of discovery
    3. Act 3 - The Circle of Life honoring the way we all live together

Illuminations 25 has changed quite a bit - the voice narration is gone, and the "Circle of Life" finale has been replaced by several classical selections. The show still is similiar in style to the original Illuminations 25 which started in October, but has changed significantly.
UPDATE: Josef Faulkner 27 MAY 97
Illuminations 25 has indeed been changed. The opening greeting from each country remains the same, but from that point on drastic changes abound. The entire soundtrack has been replaced, but oddly enough not the waterscreen images. The new classical soundtrack is very badly pieced together, in what is an obvious attempt to "fit" the original show's laser program. Also, the amount of fireworks has been cut back severly. The stunning finale of the show "Circle of Life" is gone, with the new ending just fizzles. I am a fan of both the original Illuminations and Illuminations 25, but am very dissappointed by this "new" show.
    UPDATE: Jeff M Braziel 29 MAY 97

Resorts

REPORTED: Ed Cambut 21 OCT 96
CONFIRMED: Robert and Deborah Peters 17 MAR 97
It is true that the lights make up a 25 for the 25th anniversary. However, there are some variations. During Christmas there were only red and green lights, while on the 4th of July there were red, white and blue lights. And if you want one of the lightbulbs, stay in the tower and you can get one. The best way is to hang over the balcony with your feet inter-twined with the balcony guard rail. Not like I would know or anything....
CONFIRMED: Matt Ash 30 JUL 97
  2. If you look at the Contempory from the Magic Kingdom at night you will notice white and red lights on each room of the resort. and if you look even closer you will see that the red lits form a 25 for the 25th anniversary.

Wishful Thinking

Cinderella Castle

  1. For Walt Disney World's 25th anniversary they have turned Cinderella Castle into a "Castle Cake." There is a Hidden Mickey that involves the giant clock on the castle and the two candles that are right underneath it. This shows up real good at night time when the flames of the candles make Mickey's glowing ears and the clock is his head. This is an upside down Mickey Mouse head.

Close, but not quite. The "flames" on the "candles" (actually, they're the numbers "2" and "5") aren't round, they're more tear-drop or comma shaped. The flames are also a little bit too big (not in proportion).
WISHFUL THINKING: Melanie Emmons 25 APR 97
the "Mickey" on the castle cake made from the clock and candles is wishful thinking. the "ears" don't touch the "head" and they are tear droped shaped not round.
