Lost Hidden Mickeys of

Disney continually updates its parks and attractions. Due to refurbishments, Hidden Mickeys are lost forever. When you notice that a Hidden Mickey was lost, please report it so that it can be remembered here.

This page is dedicated to those Hidden Mickeys lost forever in the parks and the Imagineers who created them. They may be lost in reality but they will live on in cyberspace.

General

  1. The entire outline of the Magic Kingdom was originally that of Mickey's head. Now it has changed a bit due to new park layouts (ie. Mickey's Starland)
    REPORTED: Ryan 22 FEB 94
  2. On the 25th anniversery mug with the parade of characters, the harness around the horse that Ariel is riding has a band of very distinct hidden mickeys.
REPORTED: Jiminy Christmas 25 NOV 98

Main Street

  1. The Magic Kingdom had a hometown celebration thing going on during the Indy 200, I don't know if it's still going on, but their were two hidden Mickey's my girlfriend spotted. The signs going down Main Street were circular with two pom poms sticking out the two upper corners of the circle sports sign. Clearly a Hidden Mickey.
REPORTED: Scott Baker 06 FEB 96
  2. There is a Hidden Mickey behind the cardboard cut-out in the Magic Store.
REPORTED: Ric Finlan 11 NOV 96

Magic Kingdom Parades

Haunted Mansion

  1. The eyes of the third portrait on the left, inside the first room you come to in the carts, contain Mickeys as pupils.
    REPORTED: E Wart 28 JUN 95
There is also a Hidden Mickey as a substitute for an eyeball in the hall where the eyes follow you.
    CONFIRMED: scix1 17 JUL 95
It has been rumored that the eyes of one of the portraits in the gallery has Mickey shaped pupils, but that is wrong.
    WISHFUL THINKING: Carrie-Ann Dunn 09 OCT 95
The Hidden Mickey that was seen in the third portrait in the portrait hallway is an X. You can only see the top half so it looks like a Mickey. I regret to inform that it does not exists.
WISHFUL THINKING: Ron & Dave 11 OCT 95
CONFIRMED: Shawn Hutchings 15 FEB 96
CONFIRMED: Heidi Bahr 12 MAR 96
Look at the left (your right) eyeball of the sea captain directly in front of you.
    CONFIRMED: Kyle N Foster 25 SEP 96
The third portrait does have Mickey's for eyes. They're hard to see, but if you lean forward and stand up a little you can see them perfectly in the pupils
CONFIRMED: Heidi Bahr 09 MAR 96
My sister and I have seen it many times. It was also confirmed by a Cast Member.
CONFIRMED: Lindsay Bordenkircher 14 NOV 96
My cousin and I saw on the third portrait on the left in the first room in the Haunted Mansion, in the picture the person has Mickeys as pupils.
    CONFIRMED: Pilo 24 DEC 96
CONFIRMED: Connie Gilbert 01 FEB 97
    CONFIRMED: anon 10 FEB 97
The hidden Mickey that is supposed to be in the portrait in the Haunted Mansion at WDW is really not a hidden Mickey at all. The eyes in that portrait are a Plus sign and an X. I know that for certain because I worked in the Haunted Mansion for five months. I passed by that portrait many times with the lights on in the Mansion.
WISHFUL THINKING: Lee 20 FEB 97
In the very first hallway, there are portraits of various "residents" of the mansion. Take a close look at the irises of the one with the sack over his shoulder. The shape is rather familiar!
CONFIRMED: Peter Stepniewicz 07 MAR 98
In the paintings in the first hallway, on the left hand-side is the picture of a devilish fisherman. I believe it is the third painting, but not sure, but it definately was the fisherman. Anyway, in his left eye, his pupil used to be in the traditional tri-circle Hidden Mickey, but on my last visit in October, it was just a regular circle pupil again. This was truely a great Hidden Mickey which now seems to be lost forever!
LOST: Danny CM 06 APR 98
    CONFIRMED: Christine 06 JAN 99
This one is a big disagreement. After a few rides, I realized that the people here are refering to two diffrent portraits. The "devilish fishman", or, rather, the drowned skipper, is directly above you, and the "man with the sack over his shoulder" is the evil villager, who is standing in front of a flaming building with a travel sack over his shoulder. The problem is that the eyes don't look quite like I remember them; in fact, I belive all of them have been redone. The eyes look more like real eyes rather than just dots, which is what I remember them being.... Well, the fact is that they are all now perfectly formed pupils... no X's, no +'s, and no Mickeys.
    LOST: Foxx 22 OCT 99
  2. When you pass the woman's head in the crystal ball, there is a stuffed Mickey sitting across the table from where the ball rests. It may take a time or two through to see him in that light, but he's just sitting there in a chair.decor
REPORTED: Rob Cohen 13 FEB 95
There is no stuffed Mickey in the seance circle. We have no idea where they got that one from.
    CLARIFICATION: Ron & Dave 11 OCT 95
Yes, there definitely is a Mickey in the chair in front of the lady in the crystal ball. We couldn't tell if it was a stuffed Mickey or what but we both saw it at the same time and will confirm that there is one there!
CONFIRMED: Sue Palmbach 13 FEB 96
CONFIRMED: Shawn Hutchings 15 FEB 96
CONFIRMED: Metta Smeed 09 JUL 96
Sad to report...the Mickey seated in front of Madam Leota has been taken away. now only a small group of flowers sit to the far right hand side of her table. No rumors as to why this is.
LOST: Chuck Thacker 29 AUG 96
LOST: Melanie Emmons 09 SEP 96
LOST: The Randolph Family 06 JAN 97
In the room with the crystal ball, I believe there is a hidden Mickey. If you slouch down so that the ball is at eye level, as you get to the back of the room you'll see a silhouette of Mickey's head. It is a Mickey doll on a stool. I not sure if this is hidden, but because the room is so dark it makes it really hard to see. As you're leaving the room if you turn around, you should be able to see the front of the doll
    UPDATE: Ryklys 23 MAR 98
    CONFIRMED: Ingrida 27 MAY 98
This has been removed. Now there's just a bouquet of flowers on the table.
    LOST: Foxx 22 OCT 99

Hall of Presidents

  1. Last year we were Hidden Mickey hunting and I found a paper weight on the table next to Abe Lincoln's portrait in the Hall of Presidents' lobby. It was definitely shaped like a Hidden Mickey.
REPORTED: Terrie Braun 04 MAY 96
The paper weight on table next to Lincoln's portrait was removed, a Cast member told me.

  1. I was waiting in line for the best ride, MR. TOAD'S, and noticed a hidden Mickey that I never noticed all the times I have been at Magic Kingdom. If you look in the tree right next to the castle on the back wall behind the ride operator, Mickey's full body is hiding in the tree. His body is made up of the light colored leaves.
REPORTED: Stump, Forrrest 10 JAN 98

REPORTED: Chiefy Townsend 07 DEC 97
The elephant does have a hidden Mickey on it's right hand side. It is on it's chin...you can only see it while walking through though. This is because of the way the car turns.
CONFIRMED: Robert Sanders 07 APR 98

REPORTED: Jonathan Acey Albert 15 MAR 96
  6. There is a Mickey skull and crossbones painted on the wall behind the witch as she is brewing up the potion. Unfortunately, you can only see it when you walk through the ride but it is there!
    REPORTED: Suzanne M. 22 JAN 96
It is in the beginning of the ride when you see the witch in her "lab" on the row of beakers and potions, the one to the farthest right has it on there. You can only see this if you are walking through.

REPORTED: Missy Watford 28 JUL 96
There is a sideways Mickey near the horn on the weasels car. You have to ride on the right side to see it.
CONFIRMED: Freddy Zanfardino 23 NOV 97
  9. A very subtle Mickey appears in the left side mural, in the stonework of the bridge, just below the foot of the weasel who is falling off the bridge. It is in the place of a triangular shaped "stone" which appears on the right side mural.
    REPORTED: anon 18 JUN 98
  10. If you take the right side, you will find a policeman on the left wearing an actual Mickey ears hat (not painted) at the end of the town scene before crashing through to the next scene.
REPORTED: Josef Faulkner 04 JUL 97
We didn't see any officer with a Mickey hat
LOST: Jeff Carter & Kristy Miskoff 24 JAN 98
  11. On the left side of the ride there is a hidden Mickey. When you go into the second room, the Trophy Room, there is a hidden Mickey on the left side of a blue "trophy" hanging on the wall. If you were to walk into the room, the trophy would be to your right almost near the corner. Facing this blue moose or whatever animal it is, look on your left side of it's face. It is extremely hard to see while riding through. You would need a flashlight and be real quick. Good luck.
    REPORTED: anon 10 SEP 97
  12. On Mr. Toad's Wild Ride after crashing through the hay stack on the right there is a painted cottage with a walkway going toward you and on left side of the walkway there is a sideways hidden Mickey, a little lower than half way down

Peter Pan's Flight

  1. On the sign for Peter Pan's Flight, there are three boulders on the picture in the sign forming a Mickey head. This hidden Mickey has been confirmed by several Cast Members.
REPORTED: Tammy Campana 10 NOV 96
The boulders on the sign of the Peter Pan ride do form a Mickey head. The boulders are elongated so you should look for a long skinny Mickey head.
CONFIRMED: Owen Sliter 01 JAN 97
    CONFIRMED: B 04 JAN 97
They are elongated, which means they're not a Hidden Mickey. A true Hidden Mickey is in perfect proportion.
WISHFUL THINKING: Melanie Emmons 2 JUL 97
The Mickey in the sign for Peter Pan's Flight was lost. The sign is now a bunch of plastic clouds. We were told they changed them a couple of months ago.

In what was Take Flight, you were taken to Paris. In the room of Paris, there were many different little apartment buildings. If you concentrated on the area underneath the lake in front of the Eiffel Tower, there are two apartment windows with a silhouette in each. In the one on that was on the left, there is a silhouette of Mickey from the waste up. In the window on the right, there is a silhouette of his good pal Goofy. This information was given to me and my best friend by a Disney employee at the ride.

Looking out over the track, across the load-in area, the grand prix car on the pedestal is the face and there are two multi-colored circles behind it (the ears). Lost Fun Facts

    Main Street

    1. In the Main Street Market house, I belive, there is a old phone mounted on the wall. If you pick up the receiver and listen to it you hear a converstation between a women and her child about what to get at the store.
REPORTED: Brienne Tripp 09 JAN 97
In the Main Street Market house, there are two phones mounted on the wall. If you pick up the receiver, you can hear a conversation between a mother and her daughter (Annie). They are discussing what to buy at the store, the cost of certain items, and how to attract a man. Every now and then, a nosey eavesdropper, Miss Klump (I think that's her name) listens in and is politely told to hang up by the mother.
CONFIRMED: The Crutchley Family 28 JUN 97
The old telephone in the markethouse is no longer there. Upon questioning the CM's - It had been removed
      LOST: Jason 01 JUL 97
I worked in that area from 1998-2000 and the phone was still located inside the Market House next to the south cash register. Not sure if it's still there today.

    Mickey's Starland

    1. In the animal area, there is a live cow with a Hidden Mickey on her right flank. Her name is "Minnie Moo". Her birth date is listed as 1984. The cow was reported on the news in some state in the central USA and was purchased by Disney for display. It is rumored that it was purchased to avoid problems with copyrights!
REPORTED: R Stackhouse 03 JUL 95 Minnie Moo was purchased from a farm in Edgerton, Minnesota. I don't know, though, if the purchase had anything to do with copyright!

Magic Kingdom's 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea

    1. The subs from 20,000 Leagues are stored in the boneyard portion of the Pluto Parking lot (castmember overflow parking) located past the Contemporary and before the Monorail barn.
REPORTED: Tom and Renée Shaw 26 DEC 99
    2. On opening day, the flags above the 20K queue that were supposed to spell "LEAGUES" were accidentally placed backwards and read "SEUGAEL". A nice naval officer was nice enough to point out the mistake, and the order of the flags was quickly reversed.
    3. You know the cattle herding, back and forth ropes we're all so used to standing in? The 20,000 Leagues ride does this with the submarines while you're inside the cave. The driver remains above the water line while you are underneath.
REPORTED: Michael Littell 04 OCT 95
    4. The subs were 61 ft long each, they weighed 58 tons each. Each sub carried 38 passengers. The ride was contained by a 11.5 million gallon pool. The area near the rides enterence is graced with a LARGE Senegal Palm Tree and a Southern magnolia, which were so heavy that the ceiling of the Magic Kingdom's basement had to be structally reinforced to support the weight. The rock formations on this ride were fashioned out of fiberglass, steel, stucco, and epoxy paint.
REPORTED: Kenneth Klingensmith 22 JAN 97
    5. When my grandfather worked at the Tampa shiping yards, his company was contracted to build the ride vehicles. He said the first one they built and put on the track sprung a leak, filled up with water, and fell off the track.
REPORTED: Eric Loper 22 JUL 99
    6. The 20,000 Leagues ride was ceased (WDW) because of an inability to get parts for the submarines. The company that supplied these went out of business so the ride stopped. One of the greeters at the now character spot told us this.

    Tomorrowland

    1. When I was in Disney World in 1978 I ate at what was then the Tomarrowland Terrace. As I ate, I looked casually at the large windowed area in the lower level. Suddenly, I saw the plant in the center of the hexagon shaped area move upward. Then I noticed that the whole platform was rising. when it came up. There was a band and equipment. They played "Gloria". It has since been replaced by the piano playing alien lounge singer in Ray's Starlight Cafe'. Just a neat footnote some of you might not know.
REPORTED: Stephan Lastinger 28 SEP 97
At the very bottom you have a comment about Tomorrowland. It's about a person saying that they ate at the Tomorrowland Terrace (now Comic Ray's Starlight cafe) and that the stage in the hexagon moved up and there was a stage underneath it, complete with a band. It said that it was now replaced by just Sunny Eclipse (the alien singer). Well, that lower stage has not been replaced at all. It's just that the alien is on top of it. During special occasions they will raise Sunny and there is still a stage underneath it. I was in the park a month ago watching some high school chorus students sing. After they were finished singing the stage lowered and Sunny returned to his normal position. So, my point is that the feature was not lost when they added Sunny Eclipse, the singing alien.

    Captian EO

    1. We also found little hidden glitches in Captain EO. The first time that Michael Jackason appears, there is a shot showing him rise up from the floor. If you look real close, you can see a roll of duct tape lying on the floor by his feet! Also, during the dance sequence, at one part a male dancer REALLY screws up the steps and does a turn instead of a step. You would think with that budget they would have reshot or at least edited it out.

    Carousel of Progress

From: Jennifer Stephens 12 JUN 98

I love the Carousel of Progress it is one of those rides that I have to go on everytime I am at the park. Well, it sometimes messes up. When I was recently on it in June. It wouldn't move from the last scene to the end which is where you started out. So we had to sit there and watch the last scene a couple times before they got the ride going again.
