Twenty-two species found throughout Disney's Animal Kingdom are part of the American Zoological Association's Species Survival Plan. In all, there are 29 endangered species found at the Park.
There are over 200 species of animals - mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, and insects - initially representing 1,000 animals. There are more than 4 million trees, plants, shrubs, vines, grasses and ferns at Animal Kingdom.

The animals at Affection Section look like domesticated animals, but are, in fact, endangered and minor breeds.
Some of the goats are San Clementes from the island off California. Since there are only a few hundred left in the wild, it is hoped that Animal Kingdom's breeding program will help the species.
