The following is a listing of what is planned, currently under construction or newly opened
at Walt Disney World. This information has been compiled from a number of sources. If I left something out
that one of you folks out there might know about, then please
share it with the
rest of us.
Since 9/11, Disney's upped the ante with security. If you're planning on visiting the parks,
don't bring a backpack or a purse and you'll get in faster. Every purse, bag and backpack was
checked the last two times I visited the parks, inlcuding at the private "Grand Californian"
entrance.

I was talking to a really nice monorail driver and I asked him if there would ever be any expansions in the monorail and he told me that the research team was looking into different methods of transportation from all of the resorts and parks other than buses. He mentioned that there may be trains, more boats, more monorails and different methods that may be built from now (Jan. 5 2001) and 5 years from now.

Guests Will Travel Through Time at Walt Disney World's New Value Resort.
A new hotel to be built at Walt Disney World Resort will send guests on a trip through American popular culture with larger-than-life icons that recall the way we lived, played and communicated during each decade of the 20th century. The 5,760-room resort will consist of 20 buildings that will be built in two phases, with the first phase of 2,880 rooms scheduled to open in 2002. Each pair of buildings in the resort will be themed to a different decade, from the 1900s to the 1990s. Cultural touchstones from each era will mark the entrances. The resort, currently unnamed, will join the 5,760 rooms of Disney's All-Star Resorts in offering Walt Disney World guests accommodations in the value category, currently priced from $74-$104 per room, per night.
