  1. There is a VIP Lounge in this attraction.
  2. The Universe of Energy has more "Please remain seated" placards in their ride vehicles than any other ride in Disney World.
    REPORTED: ImKiwi10 11 MAR 02
  3. The bouncy orchestral score to Ellen's Energy Adventure was composed by veteran film/TV music composer Bruce Broughton (who also composed the score to "Honey, I Blew Up the Audience"). The rousing preshow overture is included on a privately released promotional CD available from the Intrada label.!
REPORTED: Jim Ganz 06 NOV 00
  4. At the end of the Jeopardy scene right before going into the last theater Ellen gives Einstein a light bulb and the announcer says,"Its a long lasting low energy lightbulb. Enjoy the efficiency!" Originally Ellen went back to Jeopardy earlier and picked up Einstein and brought him back home to meet her parents but that scene was cut out. The final show was shown to test audiences and they all asked why Ellen was handing Einstein a lightbulb so they added the announcer's voice to make sense.
REPORTED: Ashlea Hebert 25 AUG 98
There was a large chunk of the film that was edited out of the final version of the show that included Einstein meeting Ellen's parents. The only remaining reference is the light buld that Ellen hands to Einstein.
    UPDATE: ImKiwi10 11 MAR 02
  5. What's Ellen's Jeopardy score? 17,300. That's the score before Ellen answers the final jeopardy question. But when she does, she comes out of her dream so really they never show the final score.
    REPORTED: Alex 08 AUG 00
  6. Two bloopers in Ellen's Energy Adventure.
    1. Preshow - After the first round is over and she says "FREEZE!," a camera change occures and you can notice that in neither camera angle that her lips are actually moving to say Freeze.
    2. The Make-up lady shoes change from the Pre-Show video to the Start of Double Jeopardy in Theater II. In the Pre-Show she wears black pumps, and in the Theater II video she has on White Shoes.
The make-up lady in the Jeopardy! sequence is in fact wearing white shoes in the second film. If looked at closely, they are actually Minnie Mouse's shoes!
      CONFIRMED: Robert 15 JUL 00

  7. Toward the end of the scene where Bill & Ellen are looking at the solar mirrors, Ellen says "Okay, in the mean time let's just pick another catagory." and Bill answers, "Alright." If you look at Bill's reflection in the mirror when he says this, you can see that his lips never even move!
    REPORTED: Robert 15 JUL 00
  8. After the dinos in the second part of the movie, there is a man who drives a tractor into a barn. When he comes out of the barn he is driving a different car. As he is driving the car he passes a church. In the door of the church there is a shaddow of the Earfull Tower.
REPORTED: Jennifer Hoffer 01 JAN 99
  9. Part of the delay for the attration opening was that initial response to the AA figure of Ellen, didn't look like her at all. So they went back and tried again.
REPORTED: Barry Eytcheson 31 JAN 97
  10. The new Universe of Energy Attraction features a $2 million audio-animatronic of Ellen Dengeneres, making her even more expensive than the Wicked Witch in the Great Movie Ride at the Studios.
REPORTED: Alyson Lamble 11 OCT 96
The animatronic Ellen is Disney's most advanced animatronic device yet.
UPDATE: Tom and Renée Shaw 28 DEC 97
  11. The dinosaurs in the ride are all built to actual scale. During the first phase of reimagineering, they brought in dinosaur experts who instructed them on how to color the dinosaurs skin. For the past few years, some of the dinosaurs have been almost florescent... This is apparently, according to the experts, how they really looked.
    REPORTED: Scott 16 JAN 98
  12. In the movie after the dinosaur sequence, a guy driving a trailer, then driving through a barn, and coming out driving a car, while the guy is driving a car he passes a small cartoon town, in the town an Exxon sign is sticking up. I predict that scene took place around the 1920's. The secret is that Exxon gas used to be called Esso gas, the name changed in the 1970-1980's.
    REPORTED: anon 08 MAR 98
  13. In the original Universe of Energy, during the dinosaur sequence, there was this dino that was like a snake that almost stuck its head in the passengers face, that part was changed when Ellen came, now the snake dino is attacking her.
    REPORTED: anon 08 MAR 98
  14. From the Epcot Field Guide: The roof of the pavilion contains a photovoltaic array of approximately 2,200 modules, with each module containing 36 individual silicon solar cells. The entire array can produce up to 70,000 watts of DC power.
REPORTED: Melanie Emmons 13 JUL 96
The Universe of Energy's roof is covered with two acres of photovoltaic cells, which convert sunlight directly into electrical energy, providing 15 percent of the power required to run the attraction inside.
CONFIRMED: Jason Dixon 23 NOV 99
  15. From the Epcot Field Guide: At the time of its construction, the pavilion was he largest privately funded solar-power installation in the world.
REPORTED: Melanie Emmons 13 JUL 96
  16. From the Epcot Field Guide: The scenic backdrop of the diorama is the largest ever created by Disney Imagineers. It measures 32 feet high and 515 feet long, and took a team of three artists nearly 6,000 hours to paint.
REPORTED: Melanie Emmons 13 JUL 96
  17. What's that scent you smell in the diorama? Why, it's "Eau de Swamp" of course! Its is a sulfur based compound.
REPORTED: Melanie Emmons 13 JUL 96
The scent used as you first enter the diorama is officially known as "Damp Earth." Another scent officially named "Volcano" can be smelled near the volcano at the end of the diorama.
    UPDATE: ImKiwi10 11 MAR 02
  18. From the Epcot Field Guide: In The Universe of Energy, the moving theater cars weigh 30,000 lbs when fully loaded with 96 passengers. However they are guided by a wire on the floor that is only 1/8 inch thick.
    REPORTED: Todd D. McCartney 13 APR 94
CONFIRMED: Melanie Emmons 13 JUL 96
  19. On the Energy presentation where the caveman is shown "discovering" fire by getting hit by lightning, the caveman is clearly Michael Richards (Cosmo Kramer on Seinfeld).
REPORTED: Milton Howell 02 MAY 97
The caveman that gets struck by lightening in the Universe of Energy is clearly Michael Richards, aka Kramer from Seinfeld.
CONFIRMED: Scott Frank 05 AUG 97
  20. At the end of Ellen's Energy Adventure, the announcer talks about the prizes. One is a year's supply of energy. Then he gives the slogan, "Energy: You Make the World Go 'Round." This is a reference to the song of the same name that used to be in this attraction before it was redone.
REPORTED: Ben Parrot 12 DEC 97
On the reference to the song "Energy: You Make The World Go Round": The song actually was played midway through the original attraction, not sure whether it was before or after the dinos. The song played at the end was entitled "Universe of Energy" just like the ride itself.
    UPDATE: Andrusi 28 OCT 00
  21. The final Jeopordy question Ellen answers "Brain Power". If I'm not mistakes brain power is characteristic of living organisms, and eventually will die out. So, I believe Ellen's answer was incorrect.
    REPORTED: Rafael 26 MAY 99
Yes, ONE person's brain cells do die out, but this does not make Ellen incorrect. Ideas can always be fed off another person's ideas. Brainstorming can always feed off another person's brainstorm. Therefore the idea of brain power dying out is incorrect. There will always be brain power, because there will always be human life. Yes, the brain power of you and I will die out, but who's to say someone else might not feed off the idea you or I made?
WISHFUL THINKING: John Hansen 25 JUL 00
This is in response to report #19. Both Ellen's and her roommate's answers are incorrect. The correct answer is hydrogen. This element is the most basic and most abundant building block of the universe will exist virtually as long as the universe exists. Since humans are made up mostly of water, and a water molecule is made up of two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom, water (and with it humans and brain power) would seize to exist long before hydrogen would. The uses for hydrogen as an energy source include fusion power and combustion of hydrogen gas, among others.
CONFIRMED: The WDWGuide 10 MAY 01
  22. In the Universe of Energy ride after the dinosaur part when the final Jepordy song is playing and the announcer says "The winner of today's show gets a lifetime supply of energy, energy it makes the world go round.". "Energy, it makes the world go round" is the name to the theme song used in the end of the ride befor it was redone.
    REPORTED: Sergio 19 APR 98
  23. The Volcano effect. Here you see some Molten Lava, flow through the rocks. This is not real lava!. It is really some goop. Basically some oil and other chemicals, that is thick, but still flows. It is flowing on a piece of plastic that is light from behind with some red/blue/yellow, lights that give it the color.
    REPORTED: jojobean 15 APR 97
The "lava" coming from the volcano is jelly like "goo" that is transparent orange in color. The consistency is close to that of hair gel. The color is not entirely caused by colored lights...the lava is orange and glows in blacklight, so the only lights affecting the color are the blacklights.
